Sometimes, you need to forget about the outside world and relax for a while. And we mean really relax – not just logging-off Twitter for a few hours. When that time comes for deep-seated relaxation, Switzerland is a dream-come-true. It’s a country that’s blessed with far more than its fair share of spas, thermal baths and wellness centres.

To highlight some of the best relaxation emporiums, we’ve put together a list of six incredible thermal baths around Switzerland. To start your stress-relieving session with a stress-free journey, make sure you travel to these blissful baths by public transport, as SBB are offering discounted admission fees to all the venues below with your transport ticket. These discounts can also be combined with the GA Travelcard or any other train tickets, such as the Supersaver or Saver Day Pass.

Start your journey to rejuvenation by booking your transport ticket to one (or more) of these great thermal baths by clicking-through below, or by visiting the SBB website for more wellness inspiration.

1. Gruyère Baths

Take your pick from three pools (two indoor, one outdoor) heated to a toasty 34°C and fitted with nozzles, jets and even neck showers to help sooth aches and pains. There’s also a Nordic area boasting three saunas, plus Turkish baths and a hammam. When the sun decides to make an appearance, stretch out on a sun lounger on the panoramic terrace. Buying an SBB travel ticket means you get a sizeable 25% reduction on a three-hour admission, making the whole experience even more appealing.

2. FORTYSEVEN thermal spa

As well as helping to revive tired muscles, FORTYSEVEN is also a feast for the eyes and ears. The striking modern architecture is the work of renowned Swiss architect Mario Botta, while the atmospheric Kosmos area features sound design by Swiss musician and artist Boris Blank, all of which means you can fully immerse yourself in the experience and forget the outside world for a few hours. Complete the switch-off with a meditation session in the venue’s mindfulness space, and then treat yourself in one of the 11 spa rooms that offer massage, body scrubs and facials. Your SBB ticket gives you a 10% reduction on FORTYSEVEN admission for three hours, or the whole day if you want to truly indulge.

6. Sole Uno Wellness World

Pamper yourself like a pro in this Rheinfelden venue, thanks to a Finnish-style sauna and a bubbly, salty brine bath, which is infinitely more inviting than it may sound, as the 12% salt content of the water means you’ll feel like you’re floating in the Dead Sea. Make sure you head to the dramatically named Fire and Ice Pool as well, where you can refresh yourself in tropical-style ‘rainfall’ and underneath an Alpine waterfall. The only way to end this pampering session is with a massage, and you’ll be spoilt for choice at Sole Uno, where you can choose from a Hawaiian-style full-body massage, a foot reflex massage, hot stone massage and many more. Your SBB ticket will give you a 20% discount on a four-hour session.
