A cultural phenomenon in the UK, this long-running show presented by comic Deborah Frances-White is indeed a feminist podcast and in fact not at all guilty about it – but Fraces-White and her myriad guests go about their business with a generosity, sense of humour and willingness to admit that they don’t have all the answers that stands in opposition to some of the more daunting, uncompromising manifestations of feminist philosophy.
First things first: of course these fine podcasts are here for all genders to enjoy freely. Men, don’t be shy about taking a listen, you might well learn something. However, by the term ‘podcasts for women’ we mean that each of these selections of ‘casts is either targeted at a predominantly female audience, or specifically concerns the female experience. Needless to say, male hosts are pretty few and far between here.
That being said, it’s a tremendously diverse list that takes in everything from reluctant feminism to the obscure heroines of women’s sports: there’s no boxing these excellent podcasts in.
