The big hits from Y2K are coming back to Khaosan Road this Friday! Fun-forward music bar Mischa Cheap and indie party organizer Dudesweet will host MySpace Generation on August 19, the event that aims at reviving blockbuster tunes from years 2000 to 2009 by legendary artists like The Strokes, Libertines, and LCD Soundsystem. The MySpace Generation event will also have four different stages taking over Mischa Cheap that highlight different genres of music, namely pop, garage, and nu-rave, with the last stage kept as a secret to be revealed on the day. Apart from the three legends, Mischa Cheap and Dudesweet have also prepared a huge playlists that includes other old-time favorites like Interpol, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party, Arcade Fire, Lily Allen, Arctic Monkeys, and Kings of Leon. The event is free of charge.

Famed Thai artist Ploy Chariyaves has returned to the art scene in Bangkok with Salute to the Sun, the latest collection of cute and beautiful illustrations painted on ceramics that tells stories and memories of the artist.

Cheewit Kong Chan Lookkrating [My Life…A Little Gaur] (1977)—one of the top 100 books for children and youth recommended by Thailand Research Fund in 2000—is the main inspiration of Artificial Nature, a duo exhibition by Mary Pakinee and Nakrob Moonmanas. Nakrob is responsible for bringing visitors on a "historical journey through the zoological literature of Siamese intellects" with an interactive installation. Meanwhile, Mary employs a "digital library" to create a simulated world wherein guests can "roam freely in the pre-designed space".

French artist Myrtille Tibayrenc is bringing her painting expertise influenced by classical techniques to her own debut solo show Just Human at Xspace in Ekkamai. The Suicide Squad (as opposed to just “Suicide Squad”) is the sequel-slash-reboot, as well as an ambitious undertaking to overshadow the reputation of the original incarnation. It’s directed by James Gunn (you know, of Marvel’s Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy fame), so it would be interesting to see how the movie pans out.
