"The groyne” is the place to be if you’re hoping to catch whiting, herring or tailor. Bring back your catch of the day, crack open a beer, and cook up a storm on the barbecue. The park itself allows access to the next door Country Club, where you can play golf, tennis, lawn bowls and dine at the restaurant and bar. You're also just 14 minutes from the sand dunes of Lancelin, where you can go sand boarding down the biggest sand dunes in Western Australia or explore them with a dirt bike or four wheel drive.

Hit the beach
Enjoy a swim or a surf in the crystalline waters of Middleton Beach in Albany, known by the traditional Noongar people as ‘Binalup’ (meaning place of first light.) In the winter months, join a whale watching tour to catch the magical migration of the humpback and southern right whale. A choice recommendation includes Wildflower, a restaurant that invokes the Indigenous Noongar philosophy of six seasons. The menu incorporates both foraged and locally sourced ingredients for a unique taste of the region. Swing by BIG4 Plantation Caravan Park in Carnarvon during the Gascoyne Food Festival, Australia’s largest regional gastronomic food experience. Each July to September, this festival spanning the Gascoyne region of the northwest showcases the best meat, seafood, fruit and vegetables along with lipsmacking gastronomic events. Take a step back in time at the Museum of the Goldfields, which showcases the history along with WA’s largest display of gold bars and nuggets.
