Ireland’s first purpose-built shopping center, George’s Street Arcade opened under the name South City Markets in 1881. Its modern iteration is a vibrant hub of old and new, high and low, and wears and wares. The Victorian-style, red-bricked market is the type of place where you find things you never knew you needed and suddenly can’t live without. Small but bustling, it’s hard to leave without a full shopping bag – or a full stomach. Clothing, furniture, music, memorabilia, and craft stores are punctuated with cafes, cocktail bars, a smoothie stand, pizza oven, and full-scale tapas restaurant.
Time Out tip: Wear something easy to slip on and off so you can try your vintage finds before you buy. Many arcade shops have a strict no-return policy.
