Looking for something to do during winter? Don't worry – there are plenty of gorgeous light-up events to see in Melbourne this month. From a field of illuminated jellyfish-like creatures to the much-loved Gertrude Street Projection Festival, to yoga under the glow of digital art, you'll be covered on every front.

Opening from July 22, Tyama: A Deeper Sense of Knowing welcomes visitors to discover six unique digital environments that reimagine our connection to the physical world and redefine the typical museum experience.
Dive into an immersive experience like no other, exploring vibrant, 360-degree multimedia projections, interactive light and soundscapes, and objects from the Museum’s collection.
Celebrated English-Australian artist Bruce Munro is presenting his first-ever museum exhibition at Heide this winter. From Sunrise Road features both indoor and outdoor interactive installations that show off Munro's adept skill in working with light. Here in Australia, Munro is perhaps best known for his massive 'Field of Light' installation at Uluru.
Heide is usually only open during the day, but will run evening sessions so that Melburnians can see Munro's dazzling light installations in their prime. Evening entry is from Thursday to Saturday, until 8pm.
Bruce Munro: From Sunrise Road runs from June 25 to October 16. Tickets are free with museum entry.
Light: Works from Tate’s Collection is bringing more than 70 works from the Tate's impressive national collection to ACMI as part of the Melbourne Winter Masterpieces series. As the exhibition title suggests, the works coming to this Australian exclusive showcase all relate to the theme of 'light' and span 200 years of art history.
These paintings are complemented by contemporary, large scale installations that capture and explore light in all its forms. Highlights include James Turrell's immersive glowing work 'Raemar, Blue'; Olafur Eliasson's reflective, interstellar 'Stardust Particle' installation; and Yayoi Kusama's 'The Passing Winter' – one of Kusama's famed infinity spaces, which you can peer into.
