The Mailbox’s extensive refurbishment is coming to fruition, and word on the street is that there'll be more entertainment than ever before for those who like to shop, drink and play.
On the retail side, Harvey Nichols is joined by Emporio Armani in a fashion strut-off of monumental proportions, and shoes and handbags abound at the Mailbox's flagship fashion icons. If you're celebrating (or even if you're not), Harvey Nicks also has a champagne bar attached to its high-end café that's well worth a visit.
Talking of refuels, there are at least 15 places to choose from when it's time for a break. We particularly rate pan-Asian, canalside stalwart The Oriental, whose fragrant Malay curries pack a serious punch, and whose service is efficient and effortless.
If it's entertainment you are in the market for, Brum's classiest possible spot to take in the footie is Malmaison Hotel’s dark and brooding bar. Or get familiar with Brum's first Everyman Cinema, where the latest in digital projection is coupled with a healthy dose of old-school chic, and a bar that’s worth a mention.
Minutes from New Street station, and with plenty of parking (albeit at rather eyebrow raising prices), it's easy to see why the Mailbox is so popular, especially come the weekend.
