Taking over the second floor of the former SYP izakaya Okra (now a Korean-inspired noodle bar Dam:a from the same team behind Korean restaurant OBP) is a new omakase cocktail bar called Mostly Harmless, headed by The Pontiac's Ezra Star. The bar takes up the old white tiled walls of Okra, where the guest's names and seasonal menus are scribbled in Magic Markers, serving as the backdrop and stage for Ezra mixing behind the bar. The bar supports Hong Kong local farms and spotlights seasonal ingredients in their cocktail offerings. Cocktails on the menu are constantly changing depending on seasonal produce and Ezra's latest market haul, so best to try what is on the current offerings because once it's gone, it may never come back again. But an off the menu order, based on your preference, will certainly not disappoint.
Unlike other omakase-style cocktail bars that serve over the top or intricate concoctions with a ceremonial presentation, Mostly Harmless is informal and not intimidating. It's a relaxed bar with a fun atmosphere that serves well-crafted cocktails.
The bar is open from 4pm to 12mn on Thursdays to Saturdays and until 10pm on Sundays. They accept walk-ins, but due to limited seats, it's best to reserve before dropping by. Reservations are available on this link.
