[title]
If it’s good enough for the Irish President and the American Ambassador, it’s good enough for us. In addition to famous human residents, Phoenix Park is home to all sorts of animals. Some of the best ones are roaming free from the Dublin Zoo cages. Fallow deer have been present in the area since the park served as a royal hunting ground in the seventeenth century, many of whom are willing to pose for a picture. On top of the usual walking trails and flowering gardens, there’s a cricket field, Viking cemetery, former British fort, education center, and several historic monuments. Since it’s Ireland, there’s also a castle (though Ashtown admittedly is more accurately described as a single turret).
Time Out tip: Head over on a Saturday, when you can score a complimentary tour at Aras an Uachtarain, the President's house.
