As one sixth of the city’s Michelin-starred collection, Simpsons restaurant shines among its equals as the ultimate fine dining destination in Birmingham.
Simpsons is located in the leafy suburb of Edgbaston, where large Victorian and Georgian buildings, such as the one it occupies, are the norm. The area is in the full throes of a bar and restaurant renaissance, with gastropubs and cocktail lounges springing up to cater to the area’s well-to-do clientele. Simpsons is well-placed at the heart of all this activity.
The restaurant itself has been spruced up, with the Grade II listed property brightened up ont the inside for a more contemporary and crisp vibe. There’s still something homely and intimate about the place, however. It retains the air of a big old house belonging to a (very) rich friend who’s invited you to dinner.
The menu is characterised by British fine dining prepared perfectly and presented beautifully. Right from the very first bread roll, you know you’re in for a real treat. Guinea fowl and suckling pig are among the choice meats on offer, while a vegetarian menu caters for non meat-eaters.
At the helm are Andreas Antona, veteran chef and restaurateur, and Luke Tipping, the talented chef director who has been with the restaurant since its inception and helped to win it recognition by the Michelin critics.
